Birmingham Related karaoke slides
We are lucky to have 2 people willing to do Ignite Karaoke for Ignite Birminghams inagural event. Basically Ignite Karaoke is when someone does an Ignite Talk using random slides they have not seen before. Some are random images with a vague theme that we created, some are decks found using google filetype:ppt, and some are provided by the greater Ignite Community. From the google search and slide decks we found we chose decks that have either extremely varied or bizarre slides. I would also like to add some slides provide by the local community. These can be birmingham related or just references to stuff relevent to the area. Try to go for more imagery less words. So bearing this in mind I would like to ask the Ignite Birmingham community to submit slides for us to add to the decks. you can send them to ignitebham@gmail.com

For our first event we will only have General Admission Tickets and we are limited to around 80 people so get your tickets fast!

Thinking about doing some ignite karaoke
One of the funny things they have been doing at ignites lately is ignite karaoke. This is were you have a 20 slide deck of random images and iconic sayings that the presenter has to present on. The key being they have to try to make a cohesive talk using the random slides. As you can guess this has some interesting and funny outcomes. If anyone thinks this might be fun and wants to give it a shot let me know at ignitebham@gmail.com or DM me @ignitebham on twitter.

Ignite Birmingham Speaker’s Proposal
If you had 5 minutes and 20 slides to say anything you wanted to Birmingham, what would it be? At Ignite Birmingham, 12 artist, technologiest, and personalities will take the stage to answer this challenge. Why don’t you be one of them! But remember you only have FIVE MINUTES! We have pre-selected several speakers but wanted to leave some spots open for YOU!
We’re interested in any topic as long as it’s interesting, from technology to culture to business to philosophy. The night includes time to network and chat, so be sure to bring business cards! We’re always looking for new speakers, but are not interested in product demos (if your topic is viewed as a pitch, we’ll be forced to heckle!) Instead, present a how-to, a travelogue, something inspirational, lessons learned, or a forecast. Speakers are limited to 20 slides, which automatically advance after 15 seconds - that’s the fun of Ignite! We will send emails to the people selected.

Ignite Is Coming To Birmingham Thursday, April 29th!
Ignite is a night of presentations showcasing a variety of entertaining and engaging ideas with a twist – each presentation has 20 slides that automatically advance after 15 seconds.
Birmingham’s inaugural event will be held on April 29, 2010 at 6:30PM at the UAB Lister Hill Library. The event is free and open to all.
Ignite Birmingham will be held every six months in the Birmingham-Hoover metro area. More event information, coverage and future announcements can be found at ignitebham.tumblr.com
